Spirit Object

November 2019

This is a video from a previous version of this website. It turned out to be too complicated, not straightforward enough, so I took it down. Eventually I’ll create a separate website for this project, a digital playground where curious users can interact with it once again.

The idea for my spirit object came from my desire of creating a persona brand that would maintain coherence between different mediums. I was in search of an iconic shape that would perform well on print, digital 2D, and that could be translated into a 3D environment as well.

A key idea to convey was a sense of compositeness. My work encompasses various disciplines, and I stand at the center, uniting them. I am the point where these interests and practices intersect.

Beyond the search for a shape, I wanted to include an interaction that belonged to the object. And so the rotation and dismantling of the object came about. Since the object serves as my representation, engaging with it should evoke the feeling of exploring or deconstructing me, dismantling the object.

We need to stop viewing a brand merely as a logo or two-dimensional graphical elements. The brand embodies the idea itself. This concept can be effectively communicated through motion, interaction, materials, lighting, and gameplay. The challenge is crafting and maintaining elements that can be recognized as part of the same identity across different mediums. And this can be achieved not only by consistency in the morphology or the color palette.
